Sid Meier's Civilization V

Sid Meier's Civilization V (also known as Civilization 5 or Civ 5) is a turn-based strategy computer game developed by Firaxis, released on Microsoft Windows in September 2010[4] and on Mac OS X on November 23, 2010.[5] It is the latest game in the Civilization series.
In Civilization V, the player leads a civilization from prehistoric times into the future on a procedurally-generated map, achieving one of a number of different victory conditions through research, diplomacy, expansion, economic development, government and military conquest. The game is based on an entirely new game engine with hexagonal tiles instead of the square tiles of earlier games in the series.[9] Many elements from Civilization IV and its expansion packs have been removed or changed, such as religion and espionage. The combat system has been overhauled, removing stacking of military units and enabling cities to defend themselves by firing directly on nearby enemies.[10] In addition, the maps contain computer-controlled city-states as non-player characters that are available for trade, diplomacy and conquest. A civilization's borders also expand one tile at a time, favoring more productive tiles,[11] and roads now have a maintenance cost, making them much less common.[12]
The game features community, modding, and multiplayer elements.[9]

Call of Duty: Black Ops

.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is a historical third person, stealth action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 2010, and was released for Microsoft Windows in March 2011. It is the third major installment in the Assassin's Creed Series (although the game is not Assassins Creed III) and it is the second chapter in the 'Ezio Trilogy'. The game is a direct sequel to Assassin's Creed II, with Ezio Auditore da Firenze and Desmond Miles returning as the main protagonists, and it takes place right after the conclusion of the previous game's story. It is the first game in the main series to feature a multiplayer mode. The upcoming game, Assassin's Creed: Revelations will be a sequel to the game, concluding Ezio's story as he travels to Constantinople.

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is a military science fiction real-time strategy video game developed and released by Blizzard Entertainment for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. A sequel to the award-winning 1998 video game StarCraft, the game was released worldwide on July 27, 2010. It is split into three installments: the base game with the subtitle Wings of Liberty, and two upcoming expansion packs, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.
Set in the 26th century in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy, the game revolves around three species: the Terrans, human exiles from Earth; the Zerg, a super-species of assimilated life forms;[11] and the Protoss, a species with vast mental powers. Wings of Liberty focuses on the Terrans, while the expansions Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void will focus on the Zerg and Protoss, respectively. The game is set four years after the events of 1998's StarCraft: Brood War, and follows the exploits of Jim Raynor as he leads an insurgent group against the autocratic Terran Dominion. The game includes both new and returning characters and locations from the original game.
The game was met with very positive reviews from critics, receiving an aggregated score of 93% from Metacritic. Similar to its predecessor, StarCraft II was praised for its engaging gameplay, as well as its introduction of new features and improved storytelling, while criticism targeted features that existed in the original StarCraft game but were removed in StarCraft II, such as the lack of LAN play and the decision to split up multiplayer regions. In its first month on sale, over three million copies of StarCraft II were sold worldwide.

Portal 2

Coming this February to four major platforms (PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Mac) Portal 2 draws from the award-winning formula of innovative gameplay, story, and music that earned the original Portal over 70 industry accolades and created a cult following.
The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game.
The game's two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.

Features:
  • Extensive single player game featuring next generation gameplay and a wildly-engrossing story.

  • Complete two-person co-operative multiplayer game featuring its own dedicated story, characters, and gameplay.

  • Advanced use of physics allow for the creation of a whole new range of interesting challenges, producing a much larger but not harder game.

  • Original music.

  • A massive sequel to the title named 2007's Game of the Year by over 30 publications worldwide.

    Crysis 2

Rain hammers down on the streets of New York City's Times Square. Upturned police cruisers spit fire into the night as the top half of a giant skyscraper lay crushed over the back of an 18-wheeler. A NYC police station is a few feet from my location, but I'm hardly safe. A State of Emergency's been declared, ordering the "Evacuation of Manhattan," and cement barricades lined with razor wire alongside heavily-armored military vehicles choke off the famous intersection.
I clench a Joint Anti-Tank Weapon -- or JAW -- in my hands, remembering my orders to defend this chopper evac site at all costs, as something stomps towards my location: A hulking mechanical killer built from nearly indestructible alien technology, inaptly named the "Pinger." This is just one of manymissions packed into Crysis 2's meaty campaign (which takes a good 10-12 hours to complete), but it provides a clear image of what it's like to actually play the game, all of which takes place in various real and fictional locations in and around New York City.
Crysis 2 picks up after the events of the original game, dropping you in the middle of a near-future NYC, which is stricken by not one, but two disasters: a viral pandemic and an alien invasion. At the beginning of the game you inherit the new and improved Nanosuit 2, which the game describes as a piece of combat technology so complete that "the divide between man and weapon disappears." Crysis2's science fiction feels a bit familiar at times, but the experience itself is really what makes Crytek's multiplatform sequel stand out amongst others in its class. It's an exhilarating action game, both in single-player and multiplayer, that sets a new standard for sci-fi themed shooters.
